Domiciliary / Care at Home Job Description.

Circle of care service is a home care Employer established 15 plus years ago. We aim to provide the highest quality care services to all our service users in London. We need care staff who have compassion and are passionate to care for the Elderly, Young people living with long term health conditions, people needing short term care or support to recuperate from illness, and people who need end of life care.

Home Care Worker - Purpose of position:

  • To support people who are not able to meet their personal care needs without assistance in their own homes.
  • To care for people in a non-discriminatory way, respecting each persons’ uniqueness and individuality, promoting their lifestyle & cultural needs.
  • To work with other staff employed by us and healthcare staff involved in the person’s care.
  • To work in partnership with our clients, their families and friends & voluntary organisation who are involved in their care and support.
  • To contribute to individuals’ well-being.

Home Care Worker - Principal responsibilities:

  • Treat people as you would like to be treated, show empathy by putting yourself in your clients place to try and understand them.
  • Undergo compliance training to enhanced knowledge to work competently with our clients.
  • Help with activities of daily living, e.g. getting up, support with personal care, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, providing incontinent support & retiring for bed.
  • Assistance to overcome any mobility problems and other physical challenges, by assisting with mobility and transfer needs within their environment. including helping to use mobility with care aids.
  • Help to make persons physically environment comfortable eg. making and changing beds, tidy up rooms, doing light cleaning, laundry, and emptying commodes, empty bins and taking bins out.
  • Help with eating and drinking by, e.g. prepare light meals, snacks and drinks and helping people to eat and drink if they have difficulty in doing so by themselves, help with feeding where required.
  • Contribute to specialised care plans, e.g. for people with dementia, re-enablement.
  • Help people to take their prescribed medication & support those who can take their medication independently but requires support to to open bottles, blister pack etc to allow them to continue to self-medicate.
  • Contribute as needed to a person’s end-of-life care.
  • Promote services users mental and physical health, helping them to maintain good mental health and independence.
  • Escorting our client to attend appointments, shopping, and activities of their choice in the community.
  • Read and write reports, take part in staff supervision, training, appraisal, team meeting as directed by the organisation.
  • Report to the supervisor, service manager any significant changes in the client’s health and physical health. Their care plan and anything that impacts their health & wellbeing.

  • Be flexible in terms of availability, working hours, adaptability
  • Active team player but also able to work on own initiative
  • a good communicator and able to follow care planning requirements and instructions.

This will allow Circle of Care to check and clear you for employment at the time free of charge.     Circle of Care complies fully with the disclosure and barring Service (DBS) Code of Practice, and we undertake to treat all applicants for positions fairly.
